Where can wisdom be found in the bible and in the World

Where can wisdom be found-in the Bible and in the world ?

In the NT, Jesus is identified as the embodiment of wisdom and this is demonstrated through every stage of his life, from his childhood in the temple, to his baptism as well as in his sermons and teachings. As a child of wisdom, he is the revealer of the wisdom which is hidden from the wise and revealed to infants. His reciprocal knowledge of the Father, indicated in Luke 10: 22-24, is a very intimate narrative of the synoptic which confirms his role and identity as an assured way of getting to know and relate to God.

His wisdom is greater than that of the OT wisdom representative (Wisdom of Solomon in Luke11:31). However, in his death, resurrection and the appearances to the disciples, Jesus is portrayed as the endower of the Spirit and wisdom to the wisdom-seeking community of faith and to individuals in all centuries. The climactic point for the indication of wisdom is embodied in Jesus’ death on the cross with his loud cry in Luke23:46, ‘Father into your hands I commit my spirit…’. In the Bible, Jesus’ desire, commitment, vulnerability and openness to God and to the world, establishes him in the position of being the touchstone of any claim to wisdom and discernment. The Emmaus account in Luke is well expressed as the story of the open tomb, open scripture, open eyes and open minds journey for anyone who earnestly seeks wisdom and discernment in this world. The ramifications of the cross and the resurrection, in terms of wisdom, open a new way of understanding and wisdom to disciples in all ages which has been followed in Acts and has been reinforced in the epistles and throughout the rest of the NT (1 Corinthians, Colossians, Revelation, etc).

Although, finding wisdom and discernment is a time and energy consuming process it is always attainable at every moment and in every locus in this world. There is no disjunction between the Bible and the world as every single event recorded in the bible is embedded and has taken place in history. The historicity of Jesus of Nazareth (his incarnation, death and resurrection) has nullified any charge that the Bible is speculative and has destroyed any wall between the Bible as being purely spiritual and the world as being solely mundane. Wisdom is embodied in Jesus both in the Bible and in the world.
